GRIND HAÜS: The Wicker Man in 16mm!

  • Turbo Haüs 5011 Rue Notre Dame Ouest Montréal, QC, H4C 1T2 Canada

In the tradition of the notoriously gritty 42nd Street theaters of the 1980s, and their wild and vocal audiences, TURBO HAÜS brings you GRIND HAÜS, our monthly celebration of genre cinema! Programmed and hosted by Justin Henry Langlois (Programmer for the Fantasia Film Festival with an MA in Film from Concordia) and local heartthrob Alex Cartier (Turbo Haüs, Hashed Out)!

This month: We present a 16mm print of Robin Hardy's 1973 horror classic THE WICKER MAN!

THE WICKER MAN [1973].
An undisputed classic of genre cinema, THE WICKER MAN tells the chilling tale of Police Sergeant Neil Howie, summoned to the isolated island of Summerisle, in search of a missing girl. Howie, a devout Christian, is appalled to find that the inhabitants of the island have abandoned Christianity and now practise a form of Celtic paganism. SPOOKINESS ENSUES. Starring Edward Woodward, Britt Eklund, and Christopher "Dracula-Sarumon" Lee!

Also, before the feature, we will be presenting Alan Lomax's 1953 short film, OSS OSS WEE OSS.

DOORS: 8:30PM
OSS OSS WEE OSS: 9:00PM
THE WICKER MAN: 9:20PM
