Historical Queer Music Night

  • Turbo Haüs 2040 Rue Saint-Denis Montréal, QC, H2X 1E7 Canada (map)

Start getting excited! On January 23rd (2023) from 7-10, join us for a fundraiser for Rock Camp Montreal! Amazing musicians @dick.vein.dyke @dangertaped @thehundredfooters and more will be doing covers of lesbian and queer music from the 1970s and 1980s! (don't worry a poster will be forthcoming with more info on the bands soon!)

Between sets @kierstenvanvliet and I (@dr.alexketchum) will talk about the history of queer music in Montreal and feminist events (I'll talk a bit about #IngredientsForRevolution: A History of American Feminist Restaurants, Cafes, and Coffeehouses).

About Rock Camp: The goal is for girls, non binary, trans and gender non-conforming youth to rock in all aspects of life! Rock Camp Montreal is an organization that holds a week-long summer camp where campers discover and express their talents, and become leaders in creating their own cultural production through music. Musicians and community members support campers through instrument instruction, tech tutorials, band practice and skill-building workshops. At the week’s end, campers get the chance to show off their talents to friends, family, and community members at the Showcase Concert, as well as record their song in a professional studio environment. Many campers attend camp with no prior musical knowledge, and our ultimate goal is to promote self-confidence, team work, and most importantly, to have fun!

Thank you @turbo_haus for all of your support!!
